[my image w/ a friend's thought : noticing alternate | "this is summer saying goodbye. the fruit, the light, the empty space." Emily]Hi,
Whew, life got very busy very quickly this week! Did it for you? Things are going full swing with preparing for a new school year. Today we attended the most interesting inservice workshop on art therapy. I learned so much about how different art activities engage a person and it just reverifies for me why arts are so vital to children [and people of all ages]. [If you don't know, I teach in an arts-based preschool program.] The workshop facilitator said 'arts are the single most important thing for children, from the time they can hold a crayon into their teenage years.'
Wow. Ok. I believe her.
Here's two studio spaces for you to see from my friends Christy & Aimee. One detail I love about Christy's space [out of the many details] is her 'secret' note typing station she shares with her daughter, it's so sweet. And Aimee is such a colorful and vibrant person, her creative world amazes me.
Thank you for all your comments on yesterday's post and sharing about your wonderful weekends. You're very sweet. I've enjoyed coming home at the end of my day today and yesterday to read them.
till sometime in the near future,
H

You are right...life got very busy very quickly. I sure wish my little one could have you as her teacher. Lucky little ones. These are wonderful studio spaces and the work load is staggering.

Melissa, I would love knowing your little one :)
Hi! One of my life dreams is to study fine art, one day... and teach it. Now just isn't the right time, though.
One of the sad things about my girls spending Tuesday in day care is that I had to pull Eowyn out of her art class. Sigh. Her teacher said if there is enough interest she'll be starting another preschool session on another day. I hope so - Eowyn LOVED it, and she listens to Jedda (her teacher) better than me - if Jedda says not to pour the glue everywhere, she doesn't, if I ask the same ting, well, I'm still cleaning glue off my floor. :)
what a long comment...just kept typing I guess!
N would flip. out. (from happiness) if Feather was her teacher. I mean it.
art is SO important for children. they are lucky to have you.... :)
my little one has been so lucky to have you as an art teacher; i can't wait until the next little one is old enough! you are kind and patient and you have encouraged her to explore to her heart's content... exactly what her artsy brain needs to thrive :)
i love christy's secret note typewriter too!
ooh! that photo. it speaks to me just the same today. thanks for the links to the studio peeks. and remind me to tell you about an arts program in this area.
..wow. I'd love it my gal's preschool would take a bigger interest in art (but I figure she gets that at home). I have a BFA in art therapy. Hmn. Maybe I should chat with the school about using me!!?? Isn't A.T. fascinating??
Thanks for the kind mention, Heather. You know, I owe a lot to you and the other teachers at LAC preschool. Your kind, thoughtful and creative teaching really helped form the basis for E's love of art. Choosing that preschool was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Hi Heather. I love your blog and checking out what you are up to. Its always very inspiring. I am also a fan of the noticing project. Thank you for sharing the world through your eyes:)
Lovely photo :-) What a wonderful job to help inspire kids to be creative.
Heather that's a very wonderful photo, just because of the empty space!
I hope you find the time between all your activities for a little bit of relaxing :)
This week is flying bye! But it just got better for you as you won my giveaway : )
I love seeing children's artwork. So wonderful and true. We have a show at our city's art gallery every year called Through the Eyes of a Child. Some endearing pieces to be seen!
Hope you had a good day :)
Hi Heather dear-- yes! This week went CRAZY FAST with busy-ness!
Heather, I know I say this all the time, but I so appreciate your sweet thoughts and kind demeanor. Thank you for being equal parts inspirational AND kind!
